DBOS, Mizuho Bank Collaborate to Strengthen Sarawak's Green Energy Development

The Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) and Mizuho Bank (Malaysia) Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in the development of green and sustainable energy in Sarawak.

ln conjunction with AZEC, the MoU signing ceremony, which took place in the capital today, was witnessed by YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and lnnovation, Malaysia, Mr. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and lndustry (METI), Japan and Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who represented Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

"The main purpose of this MoU is to establish cooperation and collaboration as a step forward in the strategic development of Sarawak, especially in the field of green energy and sustainable economy," he said when met by TVS after attending the Third Series of the Asian Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Ministerial Meeting here, today. 

He said the collaboration is hoped to attract more investors to Sarawak, especially in the renewable energy and hydrogen sectors.

"This bank has extensive experience, so we hope DBOS can work with them to advance these projects in the future," he added.

Meanwhile, DBOS Chief Executive Officer, Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion, said the collaboration would focus on key sectors that are in line with the region's aspirations under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

"The key areas are hydrogen and renewable energy. This will be an important project that is in line with the state's aspirations under the PCDS," she enlighted.

Through the MoU, both parties are expected to be able to open up more strategic investment space and strengthen Sarawak's efforts towards a sustainable economy based on green energy.- TVS
